Have you been looking for a job in a charity and becoming increasingly mystified as to why your decades of experience isn’t getting the traction you hoped for and (modesty aside) expected?

You have impressive skills.  You know they are as relevant to the charity sector as they were in the commercial world yet – tumbleweed.

I’ve heard this so many times.  It was my own experience too.

Last year I decided to try and find a solution.  I worked with some wonderful charities to create a stepping stone into the sector. And met 6 equally wonderful people who wanted to make the switch.  Before the end of the 6 month placement 4 had found work in a charity.

Once you are ‘on the inside’ you understand how to explain how your skills are relatable.  You can see which charity roles your skills best align with.  You experience the culture for yourself and appreciate just how different it is to the corporate sector and how to adapt.  You understand how important the cause is in the decision of where to work.

Getting inside is the tricky part.  But that’s where we can help.

We run 2 cohorts a year in May and November.

If a stepping stone into the charity sector sounds appealing then please register your interest  at the bottom of the home page. You’ll be the first to know when we open for applications in the New Year.

There was a Times headline this week referring to some new research, ‘Almost half of recruiters think 57 is too old for a job’.  The charity sector workforce has an older profile than corporate or public. Experience is valued.  How refreshing is that!

Please don’t give up.  Working for a cause is life changing.
