I was lucky enough to stumble into The Well Placed a few months ago when looking for new professional opportunities after a career break, and after having a great exchange with Maya, I decided to apply for a placement in their new cohort.

I found the placement application process very thorough, and even challenging at times, but it was also very rewarding in retrospect, as it allowed me to deeply examine why I wanted to move in this new direction and start a new career in the charity sector. Maya was also incredibly supportive throughout, always present and available to answer any questions I had.

I eventually got a placement with Waterwise, a great organisation working in the environmental sector that specifically focuses on water conservation and efficiency through training, research, and policy making.

The onboarding process at Waterwise has been a testament to its inclusive culture. Every team member has been welcoming and generous with their support, creating a reassuring and confident environment.

My work at Waterwise has mainly focused on the Water Literacy Project, an incredible program offering free training to anyone interested in sustainability and water efficiency. However, this project is quite different from anything I have done before!

My professional background is project management in the creative industries, so when I started working at Waterwise, I tried to bring curiosity, attention to detail, a team-focused approach, and a good knowledge of ‘storytelling’. These skills and expertise have been received very positively so far, and hopefully, they will contribute to the successful delivery of the Water Literacy Project.

Also, from a personal perspective, working at Waterwise has been an extremely rewarding experience because, probably for the first time in my professional life, I can clearly see my efforts going towards something objectively good and meaningful that will positively affect my future, the future of my children, and society at large.

I definitely recommend that any professional who needs a fresh start or wants to explore a career change and a transition to the charity sector take a look at The Well Placed. Maya is fantastic, and I am sure it will be worth your while.
